Author Connie Perez, a native New Mexican, is a ranch wife, mother, grandmother, and retired elementary school teacher of 33 years. In 2008, she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and in 2018, after retiring from teaching and eager to find a way to cope with the disease, she picked up a paintbrush and applied color to canvas. Five months later she had completed over one hundred canvases; written and illustrated two companion volumes on ranch life for young children; and was accepting commissioned work, holding auctions, participating in art fairs, and running her own gallery. Connie considers her work a testament to the power of divine intervention in her life.
